The Bright Star Touring Theater of Asheville, NC, will be giving a public performance of “North by Night: More Heroes of the Underground Railroad” on Friday, March 1, 2019. The performance will begin at 7:00 pm at St. James Episcopal Church in downtown Greeneville. The program is free and open to the public.
The performance will cap two days of performances being given in local schools. “We are very pleased that Bright Star has been able to return to our community and offer this program for our schools and the public as part of our celebration of Black History,” said Stephanie Williams, Chief of Interpretation and Education at the Andrew Johnson National Historic Site.
The program is presented by the National Historic Site through the support of the Andrew Johnson Heritage Association. Sponsors of the Association include Andrew Johnson Bank, Consumer Credit Union, Unity Urology, GCS Partnership, Youth Builders of Greeneville, and Copies Unlimited.
The Andrew Johnson Heritage Association is the “Official Friends Group” of the National Historic Site. It is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 by Margaret Johnson Patterson Johnson, the great grand-daughter of President Johnson.
